Did you
hear about the World Baseball Classic coming next
March?
Sounds exciting.
It’s about time MLB
starts marketing itself differently.
I believe in the old
saying, “keep doing what you’ve always done and
you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”
The NFL has done a
great job marketing it’s product. The NBA has really
kicked the MLB’s rear too.
Apparently, there
will be 16 teams competing around the world for the
bragging rights for the world’s best. There will be
teams from China, Dominican Republic, Taiwan,
Canada, Australia, Italy, United States, and many
more.
Already controversy
surrounds the tournament.
A lot of folks are
asking which teams should the players play for?
Well, it sounds like
Arod is leaning towards playing for the Dominican
Republic. Isn’t he an American.
Piazza will be
playing for Italy. Isn’t he American?
I wonder though, how
seriously these multi-millionaires will take the
games. Arod has already said the American players
will probably not take it as seriously as the
Dominicans. If that’s true, then why play these
games?
I imagine the folks
down in Phoenix and Florida might not be happy with
this tournament happening right in the middle of
spring training.
I have mixed feelings
about the tournament. I think it is great for the
exposure of baseball, but I also want to see good
baseball being played. I don’t know if all the
players will be game ready a month ahead of the
regular season and be playing their hardest. The
regular season is very long, and if spring training
is any indicator, these guys won’t be laying out and
pushing the envelope.
Arod said he was
going to start his hitting and training a few weeks
earlier this year.
Will we see more
injuries because of this tournament?
Let me know about
your thoughts.

Keep dominating the
competition!
