Should Land on their Toes - Myth #4
We've all heard it.
We've all tried it.
For most of us, if we
land on our heal, it feels uncomfortable.
"Land on your toe,
not your heal."
I'm not sure on the
logic being that teach, but it happens all the
time.
If you watch how
folks walk, jog and run, it is heal to toe. That is
what is natural for all of us. Yes, some of us may
walk on our toes, but for the majority it's heal to
toe.
Our teaching
principles don't even address how the pitcher lands.
That is unique to them. Their personal
signature.....as long as the pitcher doesn't violate
one of our 5 pitching principles, the way they land
is unique to them.
Look at the way Nolan
Ryan landed, heal striker with a tilt to the foot;
Mark Prior, heal striker......Randy Johnson, a heal
striker with a stiff leg. They've all been a little
successful I'd say.
Roger Clemens
actually strikes his foot fairly flat if not
slightly on his toe.
My point is, each one
is different. Let the pitcher be natural.
If you would like to
lean more about our pitching principles, come to our
upcoming Free Coaches and Parents pitching clinic
March 12th.
That is a change from
this Saturday March 5th. For more information, check
out the registration page and flier on our website.
Until next time, keep
working hard!
