Detroit's
Percival's Season Over
One of my favorite
closers to watch in the game of baseball is Troy
Percival. If you don't already know it, I've been an
Angels fan since I was a small child, growing up
near Anaheim Stadium.....or is it the Los Angeles of
Anaheim of Orange County of Southern California, of
California Angels Stadium....of the USA....near the
57 Freeway and Orangethorpe.
Anyway, I was
saddened to hear that Troy had torn his muscles away
from the bone and will be out for the season.
This reminds me of
about this time of year I receive a lot of calls
from students and parents asking about soreness
and stiffness in joints.
Remember, for most
youth players, the season is coming close to an end.
Many of you have pitched a lot of innings and your
bodies are fatigued. When the body gets fatigued,
the arm generally has to work a little harder, thus
a little more stress and strain.
Watch the workloads
and make sure you continue to get proper rest.
When should you
resume your workouts and throwing after the season
ends. Well, I know it sounds cliché, but it is
different for every player. Listen to your body.
Give it a little rest and get back after the
training as soon as possible.
You'll need to really
hump it up for next season right away. Work on
power. Work on endurance. Work on flexibility and
work on stability and balance.
If all goes well,
look for our announcement of our new shoulder and
elbow endurance DVD next week.
Until next time, keep
on working hard
