More on
Throwing Velocity.
Yesterday I talked
about getting stronger. Today, I'll talk about
transferring energy from the ground, through your
body and out through the ball for more speed.
Your body needs to
work on an efficient way to get the most out of the
strength you've built to throw the ball harder.
If you have a
movement out of sequence, like rotating too early,
you essentially have "leaked" energy. An efficient
pitching delivery looks awesome. That's why some
major league pitchers on TV look like they are not
working very hard. They are very efficient.
I've heard TV
announcers say that Mark Prior looks so effortless.
Like he's not working very hard. Believe me, Mark is
working extremely hard out there. He just doesn't
have excess movement. His body is working in perfect
harmony. Mechanically in tune. Much like a Formula 1
racer. My Suburban doesn't work as efficient as that
Formula 1 racer.
To generate your
maximum potential velocity, you must minimize your
excess movement so you will not leak energy. How do
I learn better mechanics?
Well, our Premier
Pitching for fundamentals is a good place to start
or our Elite Pitching class for the more passionate
pitcher.
Feel free to email us
if you have any questions. I can't promise we'll get
to all of them, but we'll answer as many as we can.
