A Moment of
Silence Today
I don’t think any of
us can go about our day today without thinking of
the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
As we should. I hope
we never forget that day.
I do remember where I
was when those planes hit the towers in New York.
Ironically, I was
down in San Diego training with Dr. Tom House in
some advanced pitching classes. It was the first day
of the class and we were all in shock. It was hard
to concentrate.
As the class ended a
few days later, my focus was trying to get back to
my family in Portland as the planes were grounded
all around the country.
Finding a rental car
for a one-way trip was looking a little bleak not to
mention my expectation that the rental company would
charge a very high fee because of the circumstances.
I did find a car from
Hertz I believe. To my amazement, they charged me
the normal rental fee with no one-way premium.
It was a policy they
put in place to help travelers during that time.
I’ve always felt that
doing the right thing all the time pays off in the
long run.
That’s a lesson we
should all take from this.
Be consistent with
your endeavor…all the time. During the tough times
and the easy times. You will reach your goals.
Something else I have
been personally focusing on is thinking with the end
in mind. What do I want this thing I am working
towards going to look like.
Like our DVD’s and
classes at our academy.
My long-term goal for
our DVD series is to provide a comprehensive
training system for pitchers to have and work on by
themselves. To become their own pitching coach. We
started with that goal with our 12 Minute Should and
Elbow Series and have continued that on with the
More Explosive Pitcher program.
The next release, due
out in a week or so, will be a training program for
baseball players. This program will give you some
outstanding exercises to develop more power. More
power for your pitch, more power for your swing,
just more power.
The other goal I have
had for our indoor academy and our students is to
constantly improve our curriculum and help our
students achieve their goals. We are introducing our
BioForce University program this fall. This program
will test the athlete in all areas of their
training. Their knowledge and proficiency in their
mechanics, their improvements in their physical
fitness, their mental focus and goal setting, and a
little knowledge on nutrition.
These athletes will
be rewarded for achieving higher levels.
What kind of reward
you ask? No, not a new car, or trinket, but a
t-shirt. Yes a t-shirt. Not just any t-shirt, but a
different color t-shirt for each level they achieve.
Much like they do in the martial arts. When the kids
wear these t-shirts, everyone will know what level
of the discipline they have achieved.
My goal is for the
local colleges and universities to recognize those
achievements too by identifying the kids who are the
most dedicated in their sport.
So, bottom line,
these athletes will have targets and be able to see
the end in mind.
Lets all please take
a moment of silence today for the victims and
families of the 9-11 tragedy.
Keep working hard!

P.S. For those of you
in the Portland area, our fall classes start this
week. We have a few spots left in the Elite Pitching
class and one left in our Wednesday hitting class.
Give us a call if you need to register today.
