Tip of the Week

How Often Should I Do My Pitching Drills?

Max, I'm very glad to hear that you have watched the DVDs and they are working the program. My goal is to get a companion manual published this summer to help plan the workouts, both in-season and off-season. This email should help give you some insight on how to use the program in-season.

In-season, it is time to maintain what we have gained over the off-season in both strength and mechanics. The goal is to stay sharp and enhance your timing mechanism (a great drill for timing is pitching drill 3 in the DVD.)

Forget the Slide step for Pitchers.

That may sound like blasphemy in the baseball world, but it's true.

The slide step from the stretch position actually slows down pitchers.

This is video analysis week at our academy.

We have watched our pitchers from the wind-up and stretch position. When most pitchers attempt to do a stretch, they actually start back (away from the intended target) before they go forward.

We say let the slope of the mound help you be quicker to the plate.

Start with your weight distribution slightly more on the downhill leg....and I mean slightly.

Pick up that downhill leg with your quads, not pushing with your toes, and let your body fall to the plate.

You still need to work on your Dynamic Balance while your momentum takes you to the plate, don't lean.

You'll find you feel like you are rushing, but that's ok. It takes some practice and confidence.

Watch the MLB pitchers. If they have any movement back towards 2nd base, they are not playing at that level very long.

If you would like to know more about our pitching programs, feel free to email us @ sales@bioforcebaseball.com.

Find out more about our calendar on the site on our new Calendar page. It should be operational and updated in coming days.

Don't forget about our FREE coaches and parents clinic this Saturday from 9am to Noon.

Check it all out on our website www.bioforcebaseball.com.

Until next time, keep getting better, be the best!
