How Often Should I Do My Pitching Drills?

Max, I'm very glad to hear that you have watched the DVDs and they are working the program. My goal is to get a companion manual published this summer to help plan the workouts, both in-season and off-season. This email should help give you some insight on how to use the program in-season.

In-season, it is time to maintain what we have gained over the off-season in both strength and mechanics. The goal is to stay sharp and enhance your timing mechanism (a great drill for timing is pitching drill 3 in the DVD.)

Don't sign up for a Fall Ball Team Until You Read This!

Since we opened BioForce Baseball Academy, the response to our Elite Pitching program and our recently announced Approach Hitting program has been nothing short of phenomenal! We can’t thank you, our customer, enough for your support. We will never forget that you are the reason we are here. We are dedicated to helping you achieve the results and improvement you desire. That’s one of the reasons we are introducing our newest skill improvement program.

As a coach, I’ve been able to watch a few of our students in action, seeing how they compete under pressure. Unfortunately, I can’t get to everyone’s games….until now.

In September, our academy will have on-field training.

They said, “Come on and play…we won’t even have practices.”

I’ve been involved in many fall baseball programs over the years. My boys and I have often shied away from playing in those leagues because the folks involved didn’t take the game seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for having fun out there. But most kids will play to the level of the competition, not step it up. Several years ago, I received a call from a fall ball program coordinator. He was trying to sell me on having my kids play in their fall program. Trying to convince me of the benefits of participating on their team, he “promised” there wouldn’t be any practices. I asked myself back then, “How do you get better without practicing?” [That’s one thing I always tried to do with my kids, is practice to get better and have them play to their potential, not to the others around them.] In most fall ball leagues, the diversity of players is broad, the instruction is minimal, and the overall play is marginal at best. Think about it. Have you or your son ever play down to the competition?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t want those phone calls from coaches or nasty emails. I’m trying to make a point for kids and families who are looking for something better, a way to really improve. I’m not knocking those great folks out their putting more baseball teams and leagues together. The more we keep kids playing baseball, the better.

What we are organizing is something better.

A notch above. A step higher. Going for extra bases.

We are trying to push the envelope a little higher for those kids looking to play at the next level.

Imagine Having a Game Plan

Our Sunday program is very different. We will be meeting at a local high school on Sunday afternoon. We will teach each and every player how to properly warm up for a game.

The athletes will play in various positions, hit in real game situations, pitch in tough situations, and we’ll be able to help them understand their successes and failures.

Do you or your son know how to get a hitter to ground out to third with the winning run on third base? Conversely, do you know how to score that game-winning run with a pitcher trying to get you to ground out to third?

We are not just going to be playing a recreational game. We will simulate real life tough situations, both offensively and defensively. I do want to stress to the kids that we want to have fun and enjoy playing the game. We aren’t out to run a military camp.

What we will do is teach the pitcher, the hitter and the fielders to have a game plan before every pitch. That’s where a great player really excels, when they learn how to take what they’ve learned at the academy and execute it on to the field.

If you aren't in our area, what are your choices?

If you are on a team, make sure you are working on something.

Have a goal. A specific goal. What are you trying to accomplish today.

You say you just want to have fun. That's ok if all you want to do is recreate. Nobody is faulting you for that. No problem.

If you are playing fall ball to get better, than first, have a plan. Second, measure your results. Three, review those results. Four, make a plan for the next week.

Pretty simple.

If you are interested in our fall program, be sure to email ,call or come by to get more information.

Keep on working hard!
