Our Baseball
Friends in the U.S. Military
Obviously, the
military has been in the news daily. Personally,
every chance I get, I thank those wonderfully brave
people for the sacrifices they make for all of us
living in this amazing nation. Because of them, we
have freedoms most of us take for granted. Yeah, the
news is full of negative stuff all the time. But who
needs to listen to all the negativity.
I recently read a
political article written in the mid 1940’s. We just
came out of a big victory of World War 2. These
writers were so negative…it seemed as if they were
talking about the demise of this great nation.
Sounds a lot like today’s news too.
I recently ran across
a feel great article online.
Did you hear about
the story of the Iraq vet who is trying out as a
pitcher for the San Diego Padres? Apparently he had
a finger blown off of his glove side hand and is
soon to be discharged. Don’t know how it all came to
be, but the military got in touch with the Padres,
and now this fine soldier wants to become a big
league pitcher.
I hope he makes it. I
can’t imagine the pressure of trying to make a team
is anything like being a soldier in a war zone.
Although, some of those bad days on the mound will
leave you a little shell shocked.
This leads me to a
related subject.
We have a great
BioForce Family Faithful in the military stationed
in Korea. Tim, I forget your rank, so I apologize.
Tim purchased our
DVD’s recently, and I was glad to send them to him
overseas. Tim has a couple of boys playing baseball
and wanted to get them a little training.
Tim recently wrote me
this nice note and I replied. I thought I would
share it to all.
Hi Bill,
We here in Korea are
also starting our spring training, all four of us,
(its a start). I wanted to know at what frequency my
sons should be doing the shoulder work outs. Should
they be doing level one once a day? At what point
should they incorporate level 2 and 3? For example,
when they reach 15 reps for each exercise in level
one, they add level 2. when they reach a certain rep
in level 2, they add level 3. And how often do they
do the program? Now that they are starting to
practice, should the exercises be done before, or
after practice? And what about days they do pitching
practice?
Your guidance is
deeply appreciated.
Tim,
I would say 3 times
per week right now. Especially the light stuff. Do
it after throwing. I would not do it the day before
or the day of throwing (unless it's after throwing).
Off season, I would
do the heavier loads to work on gaining strength.
Just remember, during
the season, we should work on maintaining strength
and flexibility.
Off-season, gaining
strength.
I hope this helps.
How are the DVD's
working out for you? Would love to hear how things
are going.
Bill Mooney
Tim, and all of you
BioForce Faithful, I invite you to ask questions and
please give us feedback.
Keep up the great
work keeping our country free and safe Tim. I salute
you for your service to our country. (Not sure if
it’s appropriate for a civilian to salute a military
person, but I would like to out of deep respect.)
Just a quick
reminder, we do have another 3-day Elite Pitching
camp March 16, 17, and 18th coming up. We will keep
the enrollment to a maximum of 24 students. Right
now, we’ve 6 spots taken.
